Gender: Refers to the socially constructed roles, behaviors, expressions, and identities of girls, women, boys, men, and gender-diverse people. It is distinct from biological sex.
Gender-Based Violence (GBV): Harmful acts directed at an individual based on their gender. It includes sexual, physical, emotional, and psychological abuse.
Gender Equality: The state in which access to rights, opportunities, and resources is unaffected by gender.
Intersectionality: A concept that highlights how different aspects of a person's identity, such as gender, race, class, and sexual orientation, intersect and create unique experiences of oppression and privilege.
Masculinity: The set of attributes, behaviors, and roles traditionally associated with boys and men in a society.
Patriarchy: A social system in which men hold primary power and dominate roles in political leadership, moral authority, social privilege, and control of property.
Social Construction: The idea that many aspects of our world, including gender, are not inherent or natural but created by society and culture.
Transdisciplinary: An approach that transcends traditional academic disciplines, integrating knowledge from multiple fields to explore issues like gender from a more holistic perspective.
Women’s Studies: An academic field that emerged to focus on women's roles, experiences, and issues, which later evolved into Gender Studies to be more inclusive.
