Topic outline

  • AI and Human Intelligence

In this lecture,we'll be engaging in a comparative exploration of artificial intelligence (AI) and human intelligence (HI), examining their distinct characteristics, capabilities, similarities and differences, and implications for society.

    • The objectives of this introductory lecture are to enable participants:

      1. Explore the distinct developmental patterns of human intelligence (HI) and artificial intelligence (AI) and their implications for understanding cognition.

      2. Examine the parallels and differences between HI and AI, highlighting the unique characteristics that define human cognition.

      3. Investigate the interconnectedness of biology and culture in shaping HI, emphasizing the dynamic relationship between genes and cultural practices.

      4. Analyze the emergence of complex patterns in both HI and AI, elucidating how interactions between individual components give rise to intelligence.

      5. Evaluate the role of neural functioning within the environmental context, considering the influence of external factors on cognition in HI and AI.

      6. Discuss the political implications of AI and genetically modified HI, addressing ethical dilemmas, regulatory challenges, and societal impacts.

      7. Examine the potential transformation of human intelligence through genetic enhancement and its implications for equity, access, and societal norms.

      8. Assess the ethical frameworks and regulatory oversight needed to ensure that technological advancements in AI and HI benefit society responsibly.

      9. Explore the cultural, ethical, and political dimensions of AI and HI, fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration to address complex societal challenges.

      10. Reflect on the implications of comparing AI and HI for understanding intelligence and its role in shaping the future of humanity.
