Course Overview

The fundamental goal of Information Literacy (IL) is to develop critical users of information. IL is considered as a powerful weapon for lifelong learning. It is common to all disciplines, all learning environments, and all levels of education. It enables learners to master content and extend their investigations, become more self-directed, and assume greater control over their learning. The central mission of educational institutions should be to develop lifelong skills and provide continued growth in the later career of the students.

We live in an age when the majority of resources are being moved online. And it comes in handy, helping students study from anywhere in the world, especially during the times of the pandemic, when all that students can do is online learning.

However, the recent shift to remote education has revealed significant gaps in digital and information literacy among students. With the rapid growth of technology and its impact on all existing jobs, digital and information literacy must become a priority as soon as possible.

Specific Objectives
  •  To enable the students to recognize accurate and complete information is the basis for intelligent decision making
• To help them to recognize the need for information
• To formulate questions based on information need
•To help the students to identifies potential sources of information
• To develop successful search strategies
• To accesses sources of information including computer-based and other technologies
• To evaluate information
• To organize information for practical application
• To integrate new information into an existing body of knowledge
• To use information in critical thinking and problem solving
